SWIMMING
3-5 March
Huge congratulations to Bryce Burét, who competed in the Durban Grand Prix Gala. He made it through to the finals in the open category for 100m and 50m freestyle and finished off first overall in his age group. He did all this, while also doing personal bests in all his races.
3-5 March
At the Level 2 gala held over the weekend, which consisted of 187 swimmers from the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, Cooper Goliath made two finals, 200M breaststroke and 200M Freestyle. Well done Cooper.
2 March
Merrifield hosted the annual Prep school Inter Country District Swimming Gala.
Swimmers representing the Karoo, Albany and Amathole teams, competed for the Inter District Trophy.
It was lovely to host so many children and parents from all around the Eastern Cape Country Districts
Three records were broken at the event.
Congratulations to Albany who accumulated the most points throughout the morning.
NETBALL

Our U12 and U13 girls took part in the Stirling Netball Team Builder Tournament. Congratulations on the following results:
U13 Team

U12 Team

DEBATING
Seniors vs Stirling-seniors narrowly lost .
Juniors vs ST Christopher’s -juniors won and Okuhle Nwelede was named best speaker.
CRICKET
Tuesday 28 Feb
The U9s beat Beaconhurst in a mini cricket match at Merrifield.
All the recent rains made the field very slow and difficult to bat, but disciplined bowling by Merrifield allowed us to stay unbeaten.
It was great to play at Merrifield and to have the support of all the parents and Merrifield staff. Thank you Miss Lacey, we noticed you watching us.
Again all the players represented Merrifield well on and off the field.
TENNIS
4 March
Our Prep tennis team played against Selborne B team at Selborne:
- Singles: 2-2
- Doubles: 0-2
Selborne/Clarendon mixed doubles tennis tournament. Merrifield lost to DSG/ St Andrews in their last playoff match to end 6th out of 8 teams. All our players gave their best and displayed great sportsmanship.
SOCCER
- 1st team soccer vs Baysville at Baysville: 2-5
CYCLING
Congratulations to Lisakhanya Zantsi and Skyla Holmes who both achieved podium finishes in their age groups at the XCO mountain biking at Woodridge over the weekend
