HOCKEY
14 April
Merrifield hosted Dale for some very entertaining hockey. Results were as follows:
- U14A boys: 2-2 draw
- U16A boys: 1-3 loss
- 1st boys: 4-2 win
SOCCER
15 April
2 Very exciting soccer games took place, when Merrifield played against Dale, at Merrifield.
Well done on the following results
- Juniors: 1-5 loss
- 1st boys: 0-3 loss
NETBALL
College Netball players, Senna Mkolo and Jayne Wood, have been selected to represent the Eastern Cape Netball teams, after taking part at trials held in Makhanda recently. Senna will be representing the U13 team and Jayne, the U15 team. Congratulations girls!
CHESS
31 March – 4 April
Congratulations to Merrifield College students, Dane Pearson and Nathan Sparg on their recent chess achievements. Dane participated in the SAJCCC U16 Chess Tournament, where he was up against the strongest players in the country and was placed 20th overall. Nathan Sparg played in the SAJCCC U20 Chess Tournament and was placed an outstanding 2nd place overall!
Nathan has also been selected for the National team to attend the African Championships in Nairobi, as well as the National team attending the World Cadets, to be held in Italy.

SWIMMING
Well done to Bryce Burét, who competed at the SA National Aquatics Championship 2023, held in Gqeberha over the past week. Bryce did personal best times in both the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly and finished 1st in his age group.
SURFING
Congratulations to Grade 6 students, Chelsea Fowles and Mahle Ntsebeza, who completed in the the Sea Harvest Grommet Games (for boys and girls U10-U16) in Gqeberha recently.
Ours girls did extremely well, with Chelsea Fowles being place1st and Mahle Ntsebeza being placed 3rd. Well done girls!
LIFE SAVING
Congratulations to Taylor Emslie on her selection to the East Cape Surf Lifesaving Team. This team will be taking part in the 2023 LSA Surf Nipper / Youth / Open Inter Provincial Championships on 27 May at Addington Beach in Durban.
