23 August:

Tennis mixed league. Merrifield ended 2nd in the league losing 1-3 to Stirling.

23- 26 August:

Our Prep tennis players competed in the annual Craddock Tennis Tournament:
Boys: 12th place
Girls: 6th place

HOCKEY:

21 August:

U13A girls hockey lost 4-2 to Lilyfontein

22 August:

U13A hockey boys beat Stirling u13B 5-0

Our U10 boys played in a festival, with the following results:

  • Vs Stirling U10A: 0-3 loss
  • Vs Hudson A: 0-3 loss
  • Vs Komga A: 0-2 loss
  • Vs Dale B: 1-2 loss

22 August:

  • U13A hockey girls beat Stirling B: 1-0
  • U10 Girls vs Gonubie, both teams won 4-1
  • U11 boys vs Selborne: 0-4 loss

  • U9A boys: 2-3 loss
  • U9B boys: 0-2 loss
  • U9A girls: 0-1 loss

Merrifield hosted an U9 tournament and achieved the following results:

  • Vs Cambridge: 1-0 win
  • Vs Hudson: 1-0 win
  • Vs Crewe: 1-0 win

  • Vs Hudson lost
  • Vs Voorpos: 1-1 draw
  • Vs Cambridge: 1-1 draw

NETBALL:

22 August:

  • U10A beat Lilyfontein 5-1

23 August:

  • U12 vs Kuswag: 4-6 loss
  • U13 vs Kuswag: 19-2 win

CHESS:

23 August:

  • Merrifield College hosted Dale College, winning 8 and drawing 1 out of 14 boards.

26 August:

  • 26 August: Merrifield hosted over 100 students representing 16 schools in the province for the 4th and final round of the Buffalo City Chess Border Trials.
  • Dane and Ethan Pearson, Sandanathi Mtheleli, Lihlumelo Zwane and James Slater represented Merrifield.
  • Special mention must be made of James Slater who is now ranked 1st in the U16A division.
