Building the Future

Giving Back to Move Forward

Merrifield Prep and College, established in 1997, has become a cornerstone of academic excellence in East London. With around 750 students from Grade 000 to matric, the school boasts a consistent 100% IEB matric pass rate and a very high university exemption rate consistently over 95%. Our growth reflects our commitment to excellence in education, sports, and culture.

“Giving is not just about making a donation. It’s about making a difference.”

Kathy Calvin, CEO & President of United Nations Foundation

As a parent, alumnus, or friend of Merrifield, your support can shape the future of the school. Contribute to the Merrifield Foundation and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

How to Contribute

Monetary Donations

Support the growth of Merrifield by contributing financially to the Foundation. Your donations are vital for campus development and scholarships.

Tax Benefits

Donation to the Merrifield Foundation are tax deductible under Section 18A of the South African Income Tax Act. This offers financial relief to donors while supporting future leaders.

The school will provide donors with a Section 18A certificate. Donors may claim up to 10% of their taxable income.

Leaving a Legacy

Consider including Merrifield in your will to leave a lasting legacy. This can also help reduce estate duty tax. Please consult with your attorney to draft a new will or add a codicil to your existing will.

The Merrifield Foundation Trust would appreciate being advised in respect of a bequest made to it as the Trustees wish to acknowledge the bequest during the lifetime of the donor. All correspondence will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

Gift-in-Kind

This is a non-cash gift such as a camera for the Photography Club or the waiver of professional fees by an architect for a new building. If you would like to contribute a Gift-in-Kind, please contact Alison Randall in the marketing office.

Merrifield’s very existence is due to the forethought and generosity of a group of parents who founded the school in 1997 with a vision to building a school that would produce the leaders of tomorrow.
