Merrifield Pre-Primary

This is where the Merrifield journey starts. Learning happens here through exploration, discovery, sensory experiences, and play.

Small Classes and Specialised Attention

Our class sizes are limited, and we have wonderful Teacher Assistants. The generous teacher-to-children ratios provide for individual growth and attention. Children are free here to learn through exploration, discovery and play in a nurturing, secure, and carefully planned environment.

Learning Through Play

The Merrifield Pre-primary approach is built around encouraging children to engage in activities that are both fun and educational. It involves creating a learning environment that is conducive to exploration, discovery, and experimentation. Play-based learning is grounded in the idea that children learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process and can make connections between what they already know and what they are learning.

Research has shown that learning through play is an effective way to develop children in a range of areas, including language and literacy, numeracy, social and emotional development, and physical skills. By providing children with opportunities to learn through play, educators can help to promote a love of learning and a lifelong curiosity about the world around them.

Exploring the world around us

Play-based learning can take many forms, from imaginative play and storytelling to building and construction activities. Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore different ideas, and engage in creative problem-solving. Play-based learning can also foster important social and emotional skills, such as communication, cooperation, and empathy.
